Sail Training Courses 2010
WSC will be providing a series of four sail training courses during 2010. Training courses will be held on:
- Tue. 1 June - Thurs. 3 June
- Fri. 11 June - Sun. 13 June
- Fri. 2 July - Sun. 4 July
- Tues. 24 August - Thurs. 26 August
Cost of each course will be £30 per person.
For any non-member friends or family who wish to join the courses additional £30
per person. This cost
covers one month’s temporary membership of WSC.
(temporary members
may only participate in one course - they will need to join WSC as full
members if they wish to participate in further courses).
Our courses are run entirely by volunteers.
The training courses are to improve members’ skills and knowledge. RYA certificates for levels I, II and III (Racing) may be received by participants who achieve the relevant standards.
Dinghy's used by WSC include Fevas, Picos, Toppers, Laser and Enterprise but participants are also encouraged to use their own boats (at their own risk).

Powerboat Training Courses 2010
WSC will be providing a series of two-day powerboat training courses for club members in 2010. The proposed dates for the courses are:
- 6/7 March 2010
- 10/11 April 2010
There will be no charge for these training courses.
The primary purpose of the training courses is to improve members’ skills and knowledge, although WSC is authorised to award RYA certificates for levels I, II and Safety Boat to those members who achieve the relevant standards:-
Level I:
- Competent at launching and recovering a boat from a trailer, basic
boat handling and the use of safety equipment.
Level II:
- Proficient at the skills covered in Level 1 with additional boat-handling skills and background knowledge and a reasonable understanding of the methods for righting a variety of dinghies.
Safety Boat:
- Proficient at the skills covered in Level 2 and mark laying, race management and with a detailed knowledge of rescue techniques.
